Shit, can’t find my loan application form.
Shittity buggeration with fucking munges all over the crapping place.
Lots of things to chat about.
Firstly my exams are finished, making me a free man.
I went shopping today, bought new trousers and a tie.
Pie night is still roaring. Unfortunately we’ve lost several members of staff recently so I’m still running the floor on my oneses.
Speaking of staff shortages: On Saturday James, the new wonderboy cheff, quit on the spot. Today - the first day of relief management; Kate and Phil are in the south of france - Scot handed in his notice. This means that after Sunday we’ll be relying on Menna (relief manager #1) to provide all the high level food work. Jade and I can prep and plate up, but we’re already approaching our limits. Kate and Phil have not been informed, they’ll at least have a nice surprise to return to.
Anyhow, tomorrow the vet is coming to take paddys stitches out.
Also tomorrow, gemmies comes home, which is nice.
On saturday I’ll be running the main bar for party in the park. Joy. Estimated 5,000 people and only a dozen people on the bar at any time. I hate the way people ask for my advice and support only long *after* they fuck it up. Aside from the fact that two different comittees had assumed I’d help (AV as well as bar) no-one had asked me if I was available. As it happens I’m rota-ed for the evening and have barely managed to persuade Sally to take my position on the bar while I’m at work. Why it should be me who covers the bar I never agreed to organise is beyond me.
Just had DM on the ringer. Apparently the tech admins are wetting themseleves because the wireless laptops keep rewriting their proxy settings to connect to a squid server that doesn’t exist.
Boo for them. My heart bleeds. Bear in mind this is the incredibly incompetant bunch of overpaid assholes who look puzzled whenever anyone smart makes a suggestion that’d save them time and the taxpayer money. Grrr!
Anyhow, the cheeky bastardios thought it was me! They thought I was running a server from inside the school. This is idiotic for 3 reasons:
1) Although the security is shite I don’t think a new machine hooked up to the trunk would go unnoticed.
2) Why would I have redirected the proxy settings of other peoples machines to use my server to anonomise data that’ll leave through their IP anyway.
3) The only reason they’ve discovered the problem is because the server (the one I’m alledgedly running from inside the school) doesn’t exist!
The logic they must have used to arive at me as a suspect is beyond me. I am, however, egotistical enough to suppose they may just have asked Dave to ring me for help.
So Dave rang - and I have no problem with him. He outlined the problem and why the techs thought I was responsible. I told him it wasn’t me and sent them on their way with a few pointers.
Soon (after results day) I’ll have absolutely no ties to the college and will wreake(!) havok all upon the IT infrastructure.

I’ve just installed and within five minutes it has connected to my news (from thunderbird), my favourites (from del.icio.us) and even livejournal. I posted this by right clicking on the flock home page and choosing “Blog This”.
Am liking very much what I’ve seen so far…

Tonight was a turning point for pie night. There comes a time in the early stages of every promotion when lots of people come (great atmosphere) but when the service (me) can still give it their all. The result is busloads of people shaking my hand as they leave and promising to return next week. They’ll also tell their friends and word will spread faster than the flu. There won’t be another dead tuesday at the brit and consequently I can start to anticipate regular demand for a second waiter.
Give it three weeks and I can turn my attention to thursday nights.
A tuesday like this has secondary benefits too: Huge tips for me (£30) and the promise of a bonus as the tuesday night development program draws to an end.
In other news, google earth is now available for linux. ![]()
Ewww, cat vom. Nasty. Arrived home from the IOW festival (more about that later) to fine cat vomit all over my computer keyboard. Luckily, being the geek that I am, I have a spare. My normal keyboard is drying on the line after some intensive washing.
The festival was fantastic. Best act were easily the Foos. Off to town now. Toodles.
Well, judging by the fact that the QOTD feature has looped back to the beginning, the forums been in existance for well over a year now.
Strange how things like that can degrade so much.
In other news, the omen was shite. Not a patch on the original.
The butterfly effect is better, but marginally so. The quality of acting spoils an otherwise interesting concept.
Was at vampire club today, muchos fun. Saw the same hot nurse chappie who was there before. Was much quieter this time so we chatted more. Life does that to you; throws romances at you from the strangest directions. Nothing happening there though.
There’s so much ugliness in the world, I often feel a hatred that I can’t place. Whenever beauty pops up we must cherish it’s embodiment, regardless of outward appearance, social status, race or gender.
I sit and think of these things, but cannot dislodge these genocidal thoughts…
First off I feel old: It was ten years ago that Three Lions on a Shirt was in the charts. 10 years!
Anyway, Joes home. Gonna be an interesting evening.
