Ecuadorian coffee, slow brewed, is my scripting fuel of choice.

Tis so yummy and stimulating. I’ve even decided that I can cope with having milk in it,
I managed to hurt my fingers scripting this week. Apologies to anyone if I was antisocial or tried to talk nerdy to you.
New features on tom.whaletattoo include an ‘email a friend’ feature underneath the shout-box and sponsored links provided by google in the links pane.
New features on Talk include a helluva lot of security additions, which hopefully no-one will ever notice, a custom-context menu (right click the forum), an RSS feed of all posts and a few speed optimisations.
TODO:
~ Limit the RSS feed to public posts.
~ Make more styles available, perhaps making use of the styles on the main site database.

Any suggestion? You know where to put them.
(Fuck this coffee’s good!)
Am working tonight, which may or may not be good: Time will tell.
Looking forward to half term, and somewhat motivated to do some more revision soon.
Hugs and Kisses!

Tallk talk talk

Last night I went, with martin and sam, to the malt shovel. Fun was had by all. Sarah swears they had sea lions there once, martin swears they didn’t, my investigations continue…
Today though I met alice. I then took her to the yard (she’d been warned of this before arranging to come over) where I’d booked the farrier to sort out pads foot. Also had a delivery of hay etc.
The big news, however, is the final launching of a forum on whaletattoo: “Talk on tom.whaletattoo.com“.
It’s not the one I’ve been developing because it was taking up far too much time without yielding much progress. That’s been put on the backburner unfortunately, as I have exams etc…
This ones still cool though. I’ve modded it quite a lot, but it’s essentially phpBB. Go forth, enjoy!

This morning was Cathy Harrison’s funeral.
It was held at Birstal church and was packed. All over the world throughout the day there’ll be similar services giving thanks for her life.
She was an amazing woman, and I’m so glad to have known her.
Goodbye cathy.

Fish heads - A tribute

Posted in Livejournal

Fish heads fish heads
Roly poly fish heads
Fish heads fish heads
Eat them up
Yum

In the morning laughing happy fish heads
In the evening floating in the soup

Ask a fish head anything you want to
They won’t answer they can’t talk

I took a fish head out to see a movie
Didn’t have to pay to get it in

They can’t play baseball they don’t wear sweaters
They’re not good dancers they don’t play drums

Roly poly fish heads are never seen
Drinking cappuccino in Italian restaurants

Cheap russian porn.

Posted in Livejournal

Sunday sunday sunday…
Woke up knackered at 7. Attended to horse. Went back to bed. Got up for lunch then mooched until work. In fact I beleive I finished off Jingo, was very good. Work was work. Nobody won the bonus jackpot and it currently stands at £400. I will win it. One day…
After work I was told to return a call to sam, this order I proceeded to execute. Sam informs me of a gathering at craigs, so off I toddle. There was indeed a gathering at craigs. Met sam and jack halfway there, nothing prepared me for what I found there:
I entered through the back door because of my bike and managed to sneak up on chris, who was subsequently exploited fully. Beer was there aplenty and I think I managed to catch most people up, despite my late arrival. Martin and callumn decided to raid the food cupboards, we ended eating corned beef and sweetcorn out of tins. Also in attendance were jordan and liz, maz and craig, sam, martin, jack, tiff-toff, callumn and keiran. Eddie and the who were (unfortunately) absent.
The party took a turn for the worse when martin demanded that craig put on some of his porn collection, and (for the second time that night, I’m told) craig obliged.
I honestly have never seen anything quite as degrading. Maz looked horrified. Most people seemed to be disturbed, especially when martin rewound certain bits to watch again. Craig left the room. It all consisted of lots of ugly russian men with small penises doing horrible things to a few ugly russian women who were undoubtably addicted to crack.
Needless to say the party took off when the porn was taken off. Martin was kicked out later for unrelated reasons and I felt compelled to chase him down the street, kicking him and telling him how unwelcome he was. Callumn left at the same time.
Chris went to bed because he had to school as normal on monday. We spent most of the rest of the evening drinking, talking, listening to alkaline trio and plotting ways to annoy chris. One such way was to go try to get into bed with him. Jack got in no problems, but sam had to climb over him and woke him up leaving me standing there like a gorm. What did I do? No, no, nothing like that, I just jumped on him.
About 10 minutes after we’d all come downstairs again keiran went up, alone. After a moment of uncertainty I followed him. I waited outside craigs bedroom for a while (thats where chris was, and now keiran) and then poked my head round the door. Keiran appeared to be asleep next to chris. Chris’ and my eyes met. We locked out stares for a long time. Then I pulled back behind the door and waited. Next time I poked my head round chris was asleep. Keiran rolled over and started making vomiting noises over the side of the bed. I reported to everyone downstairs that keiran had been pretending to be sick to annoy chris.
Turns out he was throwing up, must have been all that rum chris put in the coke we demanded he down… Hmm…
Eventually craig kicked us out. I took chris’ zen with me. Rolled home and couldn’t get into bedroom, collapsed in sisters (empty) bed.
Waking up somewhere unfamiliar is always a little disturbing, especially if you can’t remember why you’re there.
Went to sort out pad, walked the dog and picked up bike from craigs. Went to wilkos and the bank. Came home and got stuff ready for GS exam, had lunch.
I really enjoyed general studies exam in a weird kinda way. I guess I just like forming and expressing opinions on subjects. Think it went ok. Came home, did hoss, had dinner, went to work.
I’m really starting to dislike work, and I’m not sure why. I think it may be because I’m always tired when I work at the moment, should get better after exams…
Had a relatively early night, but still managed to sleep til midday today. Went to meet maz, then on to school. Bought a pizza. Ate it. Sat the communications exam. Was a bit of a joke, but I almost enjoyed it, for the same reasons, except that this was a piss-take exam I never asked to be entered into.
Took the plaster off my finger today, the cuts still pretty bad, but at least it’s not bleeding.
Gonna go get hoss in now, after that hopefully some revision.
Tom

JOURNALENTRY.SQL — 21/05/05 V1.001

Posted in Livejournal

Sheesh I’ve not posted in a while.
Forgive me for not beginning at the beginning*, I shall instead start on wednesday…
I had a physics practical exam and it looked hard. So I set it all up as explained in the paper, pressed the button and - nothing happened. Crap. Try again. Still nothing. Cue the sweating and the trembling Doc May had warned me about. What the hell do I do now? Ok, lets try the second question. Yeah, this seems good. But I can’t ignore Q1 can I? Thats 50% of the marks. Lets go back to the start. Still won’t work. Try using the equipment from the empty table next door. Ok, here goes: Nothing. Panicing now. Put hand up. Doc May comes over. Plays with the kit and decides that I’ve been blessed with a dodgy battery holder. “But Robs didn’t work either.” *Perplexed face.* *Plays with kit* “His is knackered too.” SO eventually I get a new one and all is well. But what a fookin lash up. Really crap. I honestly think that that set me up badly for the rest of the exam. But hey, life goes on.
After that I had no lessons for the rest of the day, so went to meet alice in town. We went back to my house, did the hoss, and then met ed for a music quiz at the hope and anchor.
I enjoyed this. A lot. The food was shite though. TOMS TOP TIP: Don’t eat at the hope and anchor in syston. We didn’t do badly either, we beat our main rivals and got quite a few right. The subjects were, in case you’re interested, bond themes and 60’s.
Thursday I should have had a full and boring day, this was not the case. Had a lesson cancelled 2nd so played manhunt. Tis such an underrated game. I had a great time and I’m not ashamed to admit it. It was exactly what I needed and I’ll probably do it again. Highlight was pincering jordan with craig, great tactics imho.
Also had a cancelled lesson 4th. Did some maths revision in mr hills room whilst listening to black sabbath on his antique stereo. That night, though, was when it all kicked off…
Sam and myself borrowed episode I and II and watched them both back to back. They really aren’t as good as the original trilogy but are still enjoyable. Attack of the clones set us up with plenty of questions.
Questions which were answered on friday afternoon when we went to see Episode III. This film kicks ass, seriously. It whoops I and II, back past whoville, to whooptown. It is definitely in the same league as the original trio.
The we got on the bus. Nothing spectacular, unique, different, fun or exciting about that. Except the dirty bastard took us the wrong danged way. All the way to fossse park before taking us back to meridean. Then it took us back to leicester, but that’s not the point… I’m not exactly sure what the point is, but be sure that it’s a good and important one.
Another little something that amused me on friday actually happened early in the morning. I had called for maz as usual and been told that she’d gone 10 mins early to get to an exam. So I plodded on and called for Liz, expecting her to have gone as well, or to still be in bed. Maz answers lizzies door, face like thunder. We both waited a further 10 mins for liz to get ready and all arrived at school about 3 minutes later than normal. This will almost certainly not be interesting to the vast majority of people, tough tits, sue me.
Oh and last night I reversed into my hedge. Wasn’t really my fault, had mum shouting at me about something completely irrelevant and misjudged the turn. Ah well.
This morning I got up late. Mooched around for a bit and waited for alice to turn up. I rediscovered DFX for musicmatch, tis really quite cool. Played lemon jelly superloud and added an extra 4pts fidelity, 3pts bass and 5pts of something else. Tis very snazzy. Alice arrive and we had lunch. Had another lazy afternoon and then work.
Oh yes, work… Work pissed me off tonight. Scot has hurt his hand and so can’t wash up. No big deal except I get assigned to washing up all night. Words cannot describe how much this pissed me off. And then I had my finger sliced open by a falling steak knife. Hell yeah, I don’t think.
But tis all good.
In general news I’m now on exam leave. And paddy is almost sound again, he has shoes put back on on monday.
Bed now,
Tom

*The beginning was a long time ago, people disagree about exactly when it was, but it was almost certainly a very long time ago. Just to reinforce my point, I know the beginning is outside of the scope of this narrative because something must have caused me to be born, and something must have caused that to happen etc. Holy shit, there is no beginning! It’s a huge fucking conspiracy!

PS Jack says: “The reason I don’t like georgie is that I’ve had better.” You heard it hear first people. Don’t shoot me, I’m just the messenger. She doesn’t read this does she? Reckon nitram will still be reading? Methinks he probably will. Ah well, I promised to put it. What you gonna do eh?

PPS I have sunburn on my ears. This is grossly unfair, why can’t I have a tan on the rest of my body?

Gay? Nah, just as camp as a girl guide jamboree.

Posted in Livejournal

The police are back. ‘Parently he’s been arrested again, so that’s the end of that. They want to search his room. Let em, it’ll serve the motherfucker right.
On a less bitter note: Today was good, I liked today. Bio practical was oh-so-very racist (according to paul shoker, then again, he thought todays maths lesson was racist too, although that may have been down to B(n, p)…) as we used nothing but banana and potato. Rest of the day has been uneventful, save our holiday planning session.
Tis gonna rock so hard.
Pity mums being gay about it, and I don’t mean in the way mentioned above. She thinks a months too long but, although I see where she’s coming from, I’m going to do it. Would be so much easier if she’d be supportive, but hey…
Tomorrow we all (may not be true) have a physics practical exam. I’ve finished off my plan tonight and, I have to say, it’s pretty darned good. Then in afternoon am gonna meet alice and take her to a pub quiz: I never claimed to be classy…
May try to crawl into bed now, or may sleep down here,
Tom

Fwd: FW: Fwd: FW: Fwd: FW: Good Morning Good Eggs

I hate this kind of message. They grate on me. If the content is really worthy of being forwarded (it very rarely is) then why not just copy it into a new message? And why, oh god why, must people insist on using such crap signatures. This is a subject that, rather than infuriating me, grinds me down. It’s like some things sting me into a fiery rage inferno (!), but other things just scratch away and make me ooze a nasty puss substance.
Yesterday was marginally worse than thursday. Not sure why. Got up late and walked to school alone. Had a jolly awful day lesson wise. Lunch was a brief highlight, I managed to persuade an unwilling football to connect with Mr. P’s head on numerous occasions, once I got Penny on the rebound also. Maths I remember very little of, which is generally a bad sign.
I was then sent a text message: “Meet the vet on the yard at 3:30″ The time was presently 3:05 and I was at college. Raced home, raced up to yard. Vet didn’t arrive til 4. Nevermind. She confirmed that paddy is lame and proceded to dig her way through his foot trying to find the abcess. Pad did not like this. A fair amount of blood issued from his foot after a while, vet commented: “Found it.” Foot was then dressed and pad is now confined to box rest. Oh dear. Pad doesn’t like box rest. But tis for his own good…
The rest of the evening was spent mooching around feeling lonely. Read quite a lot. Re-wrote the first chapter of Hallo There and basically mooched for a bit longer. Eventually sam came online and we discussed holiday options.
This morning I was in for a shock. A nasty one.
Arrived at the yard and mucked out. Went to empty barrow and - where the fuck are my cows?
All 42 of them (27 Cows, 11 Heffers, 4 Bullocks) vanished.
Gates all shut. Not hiding in a corner. So I tell Mrs. Boulter (my landlady) who rings Steve (who owns them) for me. Steve comes down and confirms that yes, they are gone. Police are rung. I think Steve will get insurance, but the mystery remains. Where the hell have 42 large animals disappeared to? I can tell you now that it’s difficult to persuade them to move even if you do have 3 riders and daylight. I couldn’t find any remarkable tracks and it must have happened at night. Driving cows at night must be bloody difficult and most lorries wouldn’t be able to hold that mass of beef.
Am currently waiting for a driving lesson and will probably update firefox soon.

Holy guacamole! Is that a past paper?

Posted in Livejournal

So I’ve just been clearing out my school bag. Somehow I’ve collected Three and a half kilograms (3.5kg) of past papers in the last week. Do not be alarmed if this does not concern you! It’s a pity that I’m too lazy to use any more than a third (1/3) of them.
Hands up everyone who’s not posted in a long time; yeah sorry everyone, wasn’t really in the mood.
There have been complaints about my lack of coverage regarding what I was doing seven (7) days ago. Allow me to clarify… Four (4) of us (Sam, Ed, Craig and myself) got absolutely wasted. Pissed. Sozzled. Slammed. Decked. Whizzed. Trollied. Mashed. Pasted. In another word: drunk. This culminated in a whole series of events including (but not limited to) some of the following… My recieveing a black eye whilst trying to hug craig: Weird thing was he was trying to hug me at the same time… Ed trying to urinate in a bin, whilst surrounded by police… Ed then deciding to try urinating up GAP, and succeeding… The four (4) of us all vomiting upon the safe delivery of our semi-sentient bodies to our respective dwellings… A large dog getting hit by a sindgle-decker bus on a dusty road in senegal at three (3) AM local time*… The four (4) of us feeling very ill all of friday.
So ‘why?’ I hear you shout (or I would if I were recalling this to your face), ‘why do such a thing?’, well I’ll tell you: It was needed in order for the four (4) of us to put things into a new perspective. Also it was all night happy hour at firefly.
The most retarded toast we made was at the very end of the night: “To bars that don’t ask for ID!” Guess we won’t be going there again…
So with that correction in place please allow me to continue with current events.
Monday was a normal monday. Yueffo meeting was odd. Liz seems to hate the idea that we’ll be more successful without her. Sorry babe, it was never meant to be.
Tuesday was a pretty average tuesday. Went to the bank. Erm, did some other cool stuff probably.
Wednesday was Ok I guess. In the evening Stanyard and I went undercover to research business stuff. Natwest are patronising arseholes. HSBC are great; Chris Nichols, my heart goes out to you. Found out all we needed and got their unanimous support. Oddly they responded rather quickly to “Tom Wright, from Yueffo” rather more quickly than, I suspect, if I’d just said “Hi!”. Must be something to do with confidence.
Am ploughing through the five (5) part trilogy at an interstellar rate. If you know what I’m talking about you’ll, erm, know what I’m talking about.
Today was a thursday. This is to be expected of a day following a wednesday. Following this trail of though it is reasonable to expect tomorrow to be a friday. Imagine if it wasn’t? Gee, that’d be weird. But I digress. Thursdays are possible my least favourite day, they have been for most of my life. At present they are the days in which I have no free’s or pseudo-free’s (eg tutorial, general studies) and also the day in which people annoy me most. Not sure whether I’m less tolerant or if they are all just more annoying… Something to ponder.

Drive safe,
Hugs and kisses,
Tom

*I did say that some of them were culminations of our state.

Go to UCL - We keep the embalmed corpse of our founder on display.

Posted in Livejournal

Work last night was a little manic, exactly how I likes it! Met newby Scott dude: He used to be at Wreake and I kinda vaguely knew him, he gets my approval anyway. Fact is, he’s a kitchen assistant, not a waiter. Theres not been one of them for all the time I’ve worked there and tis weird. He’s forbidden from leaving the kitchen which strikes me as odd. I taught him how to mash potatoes the brittania way. Twas after the shift that things really kicked off however…
Liz (creepy liz) was jacked up on draught cider. She was very merry. Spent the evening telling me why I should apply to UCL instead of imperial. As I was leaving she grabbed me and proceded to draw on my arm. I tell thee, the womans unbalanced.
Prior to work I’d dropped into town to meet the lovely louse. Weather was sporadically gorgeous. We managed to sift through a large portion of the humour section in waterstones as well, was amusing, except when some random guy walked over and asked me if I’d watched ‘culture steven’. I swear that’s what he said but didn’t have the chance to reply because he walked off just as nonchalantly as he’d walked over to us. Talking of strange guys: Some dude with his hand down his trowsers approached us at the fountain and asked if I’d sell him a cigarette.
This morning I went driving again, went all round everywhere. The rode and, guess what, it tipped it down on me; I feel cursed.
Had a lunch consisting of mainly ginger cake. Am now waiting to go to work where I’ll be til 6. I kinda want to go down and try my luck with the bonus question again, so may do that…
For now though: Bye.
